Anytime you join a community there is always a specific language you need to learn to better navigate the community. If you are reading this you are probably new, or ready to see what I missed. To help you better navigate this community I put together this guide for you which is a constant work in progress. I hope by sharing this you’ll feel right at home and able to focus on your planner instead of figuring out what everyone’s talking about.
Common Acronyms & Terms defined for you
A5 – Typically a Ring Bound planner (5.8 X 8.3)
AZPG – Arizona Planner Girls – The community this website is about.
B6 – Typically a Travelers notebook insert (4.9 X 6.9)
B/S/T – Buy Sell and Trade – this is a group that you can buy, sell and trade planner related items
Bujo – Bullet Journaling is a system that you customize invented by Ryder Carroll.
Coil Bound – See Spiral Bound
Dashboard / Divider – A decorative page usually with a tab that seperates a chuck of inserts in a TN or Ring Bound Planner
Disc Bound – The Arc or Disc system is a hard plastic or metal ring at that punched papers fit into. Happy Planners, Jane’s Agenda, Levenger are popular in our community.
Dot Grid – The a grid of dots on a page. Typically a preference for Bullet Journals (BuJo) because it makes it easier to plan inside.
EDC – Every Day Carry, this is the planner you carry with you every single day. Example: My EDC planner is an EC.
EC – Erin Condren
Etsy – Best place to buy stickers from our most loved shops. This is a website where people can buy handmade goods.
Ephemora or Ephemera (this is a heavily debated word) – Die Cut paper used to decorate dashboards, spreads, or to stick anywhere you’d like.
Frankenplanner OR Frankenplanning – When someone takes the pieces of more than one planner and makes them one planner. Most commonly done with Happy Planners since the discs make the system easily interchangeable.
Foxy – Foxy Fix, a company that makes leather covers for TN’s and Ring bound planners
G2 – A popular gel pen made by Pilot
Go Wild – A premium annual women’s retreat put on by Wild For Planners (PGW).
GSM – Grams Per Square Meter or the weight of a paper. Listen to Paper & Pen Snob to hear this discussed in depth.
HoLo – Hobby Lobby
HP – Happy Planner
Insert – The notebook that fits inside a Travelers Notebook.
IWP – Inkwell Press – Planner sold online or in Office Max.
Llama – The official unofficial mascot of the planner community. Coined in PGW as the no drama drama llama this has been adopted by the entire community and is seen just about everywhere you look.
MAMBI – Me and My Big Ideas the creators of the Happy Planner.
OG – Original member of a group in the planner community.
PGW – Planners Gone Wild – A group of no nonsense bad ass planner women. Not for the faint of heart, lots of pearl clutching moments.
Planner Girl Chatter – A podcast hosted by the admins of Arizona Planner Girls.
PR Girl – A Planner that uses and promotes product for a company in exchange for free products, sometimes but rarely money.
Printable – A downloadable (paid or free) .pdf for stickers, inserts, dashboards, or eupherma.
Promo Code – Promotional code by a shop owner that provides you with a discount for the products a shop offers. This may come through a PR Girl, Social Media post, on a sticker sheet you purchased.
RAK – Random Act of Kindness – When one planner offers to send another planner something without expectation of anything in return. Sometimes this is done in a giveaway, other times it’s organized.
Ring Bound – Leather, or like material planner with a 3 – 6 rings inside to hold the paper. Usually has a clasp to hold it all together. Filo Fax, Day Runner, Kikki K, Gilio, Doki Books.
Spiral Bound – Planner with a coil on the end like a traditional spiral bound notebook. Erin Condren, Plum Paper, Kit Life, Inkwell Press
TN – Travelers Notebook – This is a term thrown around.
TPS – The Planner Society – A popular subscription box that is dedicated to all things floral.
WP – Websters Pages
